Privacy
The short version: The Bearing collects as little as it can get away with, runs no advertising, and sells nothing to anyone.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to count visitors and see which articles people actually read. That's aggregate traffic data — pages, referrers, rough location, device type. I use it to decide what to write more of. I don't attempt to identify individual readers, and there's no advertising network attached to it.
If you subscribe
Subscribing stores your email address so the newsletter can be sent to you. It is used for that and nothing else — not sold, not rented, not shared with advertisers. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you.
Cookies
Analytics sets cookies. If you subscribe or sign in, a cookie keeps you signed in. That's the extent of it — there are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies here, because there are no advertisers.
Hosting
The site runs on a server in Sydney, Australia, operated by me. It isn't a managed publishing platform with its own data collection layered underneath.
Anything else
If you want to know what's stored about you, or want it deleted, ask via the contact page and I'll sort it out.
